She worked underground, which was better than working above. For people, well creatures, like her, being around the world of the living was ill-advised. It was vital that she keep herself secret from everyone. Integrating herself into a human lifestyle, although remaining apart from them, was pivotal. An important part of human lives was the ability to not fry in the sun. Since that was beyond her ability, she liked mine work just fine. Secondly, being underground all day left a certain smell on her skin. It made it easier to hide from other unnaturals. Especially the ones Peter would send after her. She knew his crew well enough, they were not the most adept hunters. She knew their habits and she had changed all of hers. They wouldn’t find her easily. That didn’t stop her from transferring to another mine every few months. She had successfully hidden from her brother for the last twelve months. Time would tell if they would ever hunt her down. She definitely wouldn’t be returning of her how volition. Not while he was still framing her. However those were dark thoughts for another time. For the rest of her lunch break she sat pondering her new life while she pretended to eat a sandwich along side the crew.
